Hotel pickup starts around 5:00–5:30am. After a safety briefing and watching the balloon inflate, you take off at sunrise for 45–60 minutes in the air. Why altitude varies during the flight
Pilots deliberately vary altitude — flying low over palm groves and kasbahs for detail, then climbing higher for panoramic views of the Atlas range. This isn't random; it's part of how a skilled pilot shapes the experience.
What affects flight duration
Wind speed and direction determine both the route and how long the pilot can safely stay aloft. On especially still mornings, flights can run slightly longer than the standard hour.
