FAQ · What to expect

How high and how long is a Marrakech balloon flight?

Quick answer

Balloons typically cruise around 300–800 metres, occasionally higher for panoramic views. Flight time is 45–60 minutes, within a 3-hour morning that includes transfer, briefing and breakfast.

The full morning, timed out

Hotel pickup starts around 5:00–5:30am. After a safety briefing and watching the balloon inflate, you take off at sunrise for 45–60 minutes in the air. Landing is followed by a Berber breakfast (30–45 minutes) and a return transfer, putting you back at your hotel by around 9:30–10:00am. See the full hour-by-hour timeline on our homepage.

Why altitude varies during the flight

Pilots deliberately vary altitude — flying low over palm groves and kasbahs for detail, then climbing higher for panoramic views of the Atlas range. This isn't random; it's part of how a skilled pilot shapes the experience.

What affects flight duration

Wind speed and direction determine both the route and how long the pilot can safely stay aloft. On especially still mornings, flights can run slightly longer than the standard hour.
